A list of the most frequently asked questions about our escape rooms. We strongly suggest that you review these, espeically if you are new the escape rooms.

General Questions

+ What is an escape room?

Escape rooms are a type of live, physical adventure game in which people are "locked" in a room with other participants. They have to use elements of the room to find clues, solve a series of puzzles, and escape the room within 60 minutes. Friends, family, co-workers, and even strangers get to work together and use their critical thinking skills to escape the room. Each of our rooms feature a theme with a relevant plot.

+ What does it cost?

Tickets are $18 per person. Additionally, the City of Lynchburg requires us to impose a 7% Amusement Tax on all admissions. Book one of our 10 person rooms privately and receive a 20% discount. We frequently offer discounts and contests on our Facebook page and email newsletter list.

+ Where in Lynchburg, VA are you located?

Our address is 2264 Lakeside Drive, Suite A, Lynchburg, VA 24501. We are conveniently located in Central Virginia with easy access from Roanoke, Danville, and Charlottesville.

+ What are your hours of operation?

Our regular hours of operation are Wednesday 2PM-6:30PM, Thursday and Friday 4PM-10:30PM, Saturday 11:30AM-10:30PM and Sunday 1:00PM-7:30PM. Team building and private events can be booked outside of normal operating hours. Send us a message via our Contact page with the time and date you're interested in and any questions or special requests.

+ Is there an age limit?

Yes, our rooms require that participants are 8 years or older. Exceptions can be made for private groups or by prior arrangement. Guests under 16 years old need to be accompanied by a participating adult. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver.

+ What will I need to bring?

Just bring yourselves... unless you're a minor. If you're under the age of 18, you'll need a signed waiver. If you're under the age of 16 you'll also need a participating adult to accompany you.

+ What time should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. It is essential that you arrive by your scheduled time. When you arrive you will receive a quick briefing of the game. Then the excitement begins! Stick around afterwards for photos in front of our photo wall with your group.

+ Is your business handicap accessible?

Yes, we are handicap accessible.

+ Can I purchase One Way Out gift certificates?

+ Do you offer discounts?

+ What about inclement weather?

We care about the safety of our customers and our employees. We follow all local & federal inclement weather policies. Should such an event occur on a day that you are booked, you will be able to reschedule for a later date.

Rooms

+ Are the rooms difficult?

One Way Out escape rooms contain fun and challenging puzzles your group must solve before your time runs out! The puzzles can be tricky. No special skills or knowledge will be required, but they can be helpful. If you've never done an escape room, we recommend starting with highest escape rate. Each room has an escape rate listed with it.

+ Will we really be locked in a room?

You will have the illusion of being "locked" in a room with the door shut. The door will always be unlocked for the safety of our guests in case you need to leave or take a break.

+ Are your escape rooms scary?

Each of our rooms will have a unique theme. Some themes may have a spooky atmosphere, but our intention is not to scare you. Our objective is to create a fun and challenging environment.

+ Which room should I choose?

If you've done escape rooms before you're welcome to choose any room that appeals to you. If you're new to escape rooms, then we recommend starting with our lowest difficulty to get a feel for the activity before you jump into our harder rooms. Each room has a difficulty rating listed with it on our rooms page.

Booking

+Do I need a reservation?

Booking in advance isn't necessary, but is highly recommended so we can accommodate your party. You can easily purchase your spots on our Booking page. We accept walk in customers but ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the start time of the room you wish to do.

+ Will I be in a room with people I don’t know?

Unless you book all available tickets for the room, you will potentially be grouped with other participants during that time slot. But honestly, it is such a fun atmosphere, the more the merrier! You'll get a chance to get acquainted with each other in the lounge and during briefing. To guarantee a room exclusively to yourselves, you will need to buy all of the spots.

+ Do I need to purchase all tickets for the room?

Not at all. Get as many as you need and you may be teamed up with others that book the same room. What better way to get to meet new people, right? If you prefer a private room, you can optionally book the full room at a 20% discount.

+ Can I get a refund or reschedule my booking?

Sure, we offer full refunds and rescheduling up to 48 hours before your booking. After 48 hours, only partial refunds or a room reschedule will be applied. You can cancel or move your booking from the "View / change booking" button in your booking confirmation email. + I have a large group doing multiple rooms but we would like to start at the same time. Can we do that?

If you are booking during our regular business hours and you would like multiple rooms to start at the same time for a little head-to-head competition, just book sequentially adjacent rooms on our schedule (i.e. 3:00 pm and & 3:30 pm) and add a comment to the booking requesting to start the second room with the first room. We'll take care of the schedule adjustment.

Team Building & Private Events

+ Do you offer team building activities?

+ Do you accommodate for special events?

If you would like to have a special event, such as your birthday party, please call us! We can help make your event unforgettable and tailored to the amount of people you would like to have.

+ Do you offer a space to use for a meal, meeting, or party?

Yes! We have an Events Room, located upstairs in our Lynchburg location. You have the option to book the Events Room for one or two hours, and you are welcome to rent it for a meeting, meal, cake, presents, and more! Our Events Room holds up to 20 people and is priced at $75/hour.

+ Do you cater for special events?

At this time, we do not offer any catering options. Feel free to order food from a local restaurant or bring your own!

+ What kind of events are escape rooms good for?

Just about any group or social gathering could utilize an escape room activity to inject some excitement into the status quo. Our Lynchburg escape rooms are great activities for friends, families, corporate team building, date nights, girls (or guys) nights out, school field trips, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, bachelor parties, college dorm activities, church youth groups, and athletic teams.
